HIDE - Back to School
Parents of Hoover Pre-K Students:
Welcome to Hoover Elementary!
Thank you for your patience as we start the 19’-20’ school year with a newly renovated building.
- Please plan to attend a mandatory meet-the-teacher event in your child’s assigned classroom at Hoover Elementary on Wednesday, August 21st from 7:30AM to 8:30AM.
- To find out which teacher your child has been assigned to, call or visit Hoover beginning August 20th. During the meet-the-teacher event, a time for a pre-k assessment for your child will be scheduled. The assessments will take place that day (August 21st) or the following day (August 22nd) and will last 30 to 45 minutes. The first day of pre-k classes will be August 23rd during normal school hours (7:30AM to 2:35PM).
- There will be a boohoo breakfast on the first day of pre-k in the Hoover library from 7:45AM to 8:30AM. During the breakfast teachers and staff will tell you about Hoover and all the amazing things that are happening here and what you can expect as a Hoover Husky parent. Pick-up for pre-k is at the east door on the north side of the building.
- IMPORTANT: Even if your child is already enrolled at Hoover, the meet-the-teacher event on Wednesday August 21st is mandatory in order to keep your child enrolled at Hoover.
We look forward to beginning this journey with you. See you on the 21st!

The first two days of school for pre-kindergarten students are reserved for orientation and screenings (August 21-22). The first full day of school for all pre-kindergarten students is August 23, 2019.
All schools will hold an orientation meeting to meet with pre-k students and their families on the first day of school (August 21, 2019).
This is an attendance requirement. Students who do not attend the orientation meeting or their scheduled assessment/screening meeting (regardless of date scheduled) must be counted absent as they cannot count in the school membership until they attend school.
The pre-kindergarten screening assessment will be held on the first two instructional days of the 2019-2020 school year, by appointment. All pre-kindergarten students should be scheduled for a 30 minute screening assessment on August 21 OR August 22, which will be conducted 1:1 by their teacher.
Our student and family guide to success provides guidance for how school teams may respond to student behavioral issues. Our goal is to support our students in learning how to navigate challenging situations and make smart and productive decisions about how they respond so that they are prepared to be successful in college, careers, and life.
The Student Success Plan is a way to help students make to plan to meet their goals to succeed at school and in life. Teachers, counselors, and family work with the student to set academic and behavioral goals and ways in which to achieve them.
