Taina Wilson has been selected as the 2022-2023 Hoover Elementary Support Employee of the Year!
This is Taina's second year at Hoover Elementary where she serves as the parent involvement facilitator. In this role, she encourages daily attendance and academic excellence in students, oversees the "Food for Kids" backpack, manages the uniform closet, and helps new families get settled into the school. She also sends out messages to families about what is happening at Hoover and in their community.
"Greeting our students outside in the morning and saying goodbye to them again at dismissal are responsibilities that give me another opportunity to connect with students and their families," said Taina. "Daily cafeteria duty and accompanying children on field trips provide even more moments to visit with students and form a bond."
Taina said before coming to work for Tulsa Public Schools, she worked with children as a volunteer at her church.
"That experience helped me realize the importance of providing a good foundation for students to learn and to grow. When the opportunity arose to work at Hoover, I knew that I wanted to be a part of providing that solid foundation for children, both academically and socially."
Taina said she loves building relationships with Hoover students and their families.
"It is a joy to walk down the hall and have a student greet me by name and give me a hug. I want to ensure that all Hoover students and their families feel welcome and cared for and listened to. When a child or a parent has a good experience at Hoover, I am encouraged to keep going!"

Hoover’s “Leader In Me” school model provides a great framework for staff and students as it encourages personal growth and leadership skills.
