Welcome back to school! We are eager for school to begin and look forward to seeing all of our students! Our first day of school will be on Monday, 8/31/2020. However, due to health and safety concerns associated with Covid-19, returning to school will look different this year. We will begin the school year (for at least the first 9 weeks) using a distance learning model. Students will access academic instruction via the internet. Some lessons will be “live” with a student’s teacher(s) while other assignments may include educational videos, independent reading, worksheets, or other work designated by the teacher.
We will provide each student with a Chromebook (if he/she does not already have one) and classroom teachers will also provide textbooks, workbooks, learning packets and/or additional learning tools as well. In addition, your child(ren)’s teacher(s) will soon provide you with information regarding his/her specific class and instructions for accessing academic content. We will also offer in-person training opportunities for parents to learn about accessing online learning platforms. (Look for more information to come soon.)
Please note: Distance learning does NOT mean that students will not have an opportunity to receive any in-person instruction. Teachers MAY choose (but are not required) to schedule limited in-person learning opportunities (30-60 min) with individual students or small groups of learners to complete learning assessments or provide targeted interventions. You MAY choose (but are not required) to allow your student to attend these in-person learning opportunities. If you do send your child to school for these occasions, please ensure that you and your child follow the health and safety guidelines outlined below and that you remain on campus (in the hallway outside your child’s classroom or in your car on the north parking lot) for the duration of your child’s in-person instruction.
